A history of modernization and innovation

We continue to invest strategically to extend system life, increase capacity, and ensure resilience across the region:

  • ARCOS-1 Modernization: 400G upgrades and rerouting to bypass congested hubs, extending its life to 2036.
  • MAYA-1.2 Optimization: Reconfiguration and next-gen equipment install to safeguard critical routes (connecting Honduras and the Cayman Islands to the U.S.).
  • LEO Enablement: Hosting and interconnecting ground stations that support Low Earth Orbit satellite operators, ensuring these new services benefit from Liberty Networks’ terrestrial and subsea backbone.

The MANTA Project – Our next big step

Manta

Liberty Networks is leading the development of MANTA, a next-generation 5,400 km subsea cable system and the largest single infrastructure investment in the group’s history.

  • Regional impact: Strengthening connectivity between Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and the U.S., while providing new options for international traffic flows.
  • High capacity: Up to 18 fibre pairs and 396 Tbps theoretical capacity.
  • Resilience: Redundancy and alternate routes to safeguard essential services.
  • Latency: Direct Querétaro–San Blas–U.S. East Coast route with only 24 ms latency.
  • Future-ready: Expansion potential toward the Cayman Islands.

Set to be operational by 2027, MANTA is designed to become the backbone of Latin America’s digital future, addressing the surge in demand from cloud, content, and AI-driven applications.
